National Stammering Awareness Day.
In October 2007 the first ever National Stammering Awareness Day was held in Ireland. The NSAD coincides each year with the International Stammering/Stuttering Awareness Day.
The idea behind the NSAD is to bring people together to one place to discuss stammering, to offer people who are challenged by stammering/stuttering an opportunity to interact with organizations and professionals who support the stammering community in Ireland. The NSAD is a window of opportunity for organizations and professionals to promote what they have to offer the stammering / stuttering community, it is also an ideal opportunity for all age groups to realize that they are not alone with their stammering, there is no longer a need to suffer in silence.
The National Stammering Awareness Day has gone from strength to strength since its inception, this is all due to the support it receives from the Stammering/Stuttering community in Ireland. The promotion, the awareness, of Stammering/Stuttering is what the NSAD is all about, if it gives one child, one adolescent, one adult a feeling of not being alone with their verbal communication it is a job well done for all of us.
